Since age twelve, Tyler has been practicing the Japanese art of fish printing. Ink made from pine soot is applied directly to the subject then overlaid with rice or "washi" paper and gently pressed, producing detailed images of shape, texture, even delicate vein and scale patterns.

Tyler specializes in this traditional process with a focus on anadromous fish and animals of the Pacific Northwest.
