After retiring from more than 30 years in the retail industry with companies including The Gap, Nike, and Gucci, Tim Hershey discovered a passion for creating art. His current obsession is metal fabrication and welded sculpture, developed through several years of study at The Contemporary Austin.
Tim draws inspiration from the Central Coast of Oregon, where he and his wife, Juli, have owned a home on the magical beach of Manzanita since 2012. Every piece is one of one—never to be recreated. This collection includes works from three series: PIPES, SEA FOAM, and his newest series, BONFIRE WOOD, inspired by the weathered remnants left behind after an evening beach bonfire.
A distinctive element of Tim’s work is its surface patterning: the individual name of each piece is welded into the sculpture itself in Morse code, creating a hidden narrative embedded within the metal. Tim also welcomes commissioned work and enjoys collaborating with collectors to create pieces that tell a personal story.
