Priest Lake Art and Glass

Cassie Schaefer is an artist and glass engraver based in Priest Lake, Idaho. From a young age, she found herself drawing & painting on whatever she could, an early curiosity that grew into a lifelong devotion to functional art. Cassie creates art meant not only to be seen, but to be used. Pieces that become part of daily rituals and lasting memories. After visiting Priest Lake with her husband, Evan, Cassie knew the area would one day be home. The lake’s quiet mornings, changing light, and deep sense of continuity inspire her work, shaping both its imagery and intention. Life at Priest Lake reinforces her belief in slowing down, paying attention, and honoring the beauty found in simple, well-made things. Cassie learned the traditional craft of glass engraving from her mother-in-law, Debby Schaefer of Camp 9 Engraving, who practiced the trade for over 20 years. This passing of knowledge, one generation to the next, became the foundation of Priest Lake Art & Glass. Each glass piece is engraved entirely by hand, one at a time, using a high-speed engraving pen & diamond head bits, without lasers, chemicals, or sandblasting.

Her work reflects a commitment to legacy craftsmanship and the slow-made process. Embracing the time, care, and intention required to create functional art that is meant to be used, gifted, and cherished for years to come.
