Astilbe Lane

Anna Burger is the hands behind Astilbe Lane, a fiber studio in North Idaho. Her work has grown from a lifetime love of textiles and a desire to explore color, texture, and form through functional objects. In 2022, she began creating baskets from cotton cord using a simple coil and stitch technique. Experimenting with the process, she started her own dyeing of the cord by a technique known as ice dyeing. This free-flowing technique creates the softly variegated, vibrant color her baskets have become known for at Astilbe Lane. Each basket is hand shaped as it is sewn, and is uniquely influenced by the dyeing process, making variation an essential part of her work. "My goal is to create functional pieces that add harmony to a room through thoughtful design, natural texture, and vibrant color."
